Our journey home to Douglas in the Isle of Man began on Saturday 30 May 1998 - and the passage included planned stops in Brixham, Falmouth, Penzance, Rosslare and Howth. We left Douglas for Liverpool on Seacat Danmark at 6:30am. Seacat Danmark was serving as the fast craft of the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company for summer 1998 - the Steam Packet is the world's oldest continuous shipping company.

Our arrival in Chichester, in spite of the conspiracy of the railway companies, was only about an hour and a half late at 4pm the same afternoon.

Route Plan for the Journey

Planned Route in Red
Actual Route in Green

We chose a theme song for the journey - 'Ellan Vannin' - sung by the Bee Gees for the recent Manx Children in Need appeal - it was played at every arrival - and at 'significant moments' like rounding Land's End!
